Mantu Modak, Ph.D.

Mantu Modak, Ph.D. is a Post Doctoral Research Associate at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, India.

Research Area: Dr. Modak received his Ph.D in the field of experimental condensed matter physics from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, India in 2020. His area of research is oriented on the understanding of magnetic and transport properties of rare-earth based compounds, such as, spin and orbital magnetic moment compensation, magnetocaloric effect, etc. His research also focuses a deep study about the martensitic transformation in transition-metal based Heusler alloy systems. Mainly, the correlations of various phase fractions in the origin of magnetoresistance across the martensitic transformation in such Heusler alloys. He was also actively involved in the study of f-d exchange interaction in the coexistence of long-range antiferromagnetic ordering and spin liquid state in pyrochlore Iridate systems. Moreover, his research deals with the structural phase stability and phase transformation under high pressure of rare-earth based pyrochlore compounds, related to nuclear waste immobilization and geological research purpose.
Expertise: His expertise is in the measurement of various physical properties of material, viz. structural, magnetic, electrical transport, thermal transport, heat capacity, vibrational (Raman spectroscopy), Photoluminescence, X-ray absorption (XANES/EXAFS), etc. He has experience in development/ maintenance of synchrotron beamline.

Pillalamarri Srikrishnarka, Ph.D.

Pillalamarri Srikrishnarka, Ph.D., is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Tampere University, Finland. Srikrishnarka received his Ph.D. (Interdisciplinary: Chemistry & Chemical Engineering) from IIT Madras in 2023. His research focuses on understanding the visualization of microparticles on glass surfaces. He also worked towards improving the particle filtration efficiency of face masks. He further focused his research on fabricating wearable breath humidity sensors and deploying them inside a face mask for non-invasive breath monitoring.  He has published in several internationally reputed journals and collaborated with multiple researchers, resulting in numerous journal publications. He also has some patent applications on smart masks and water purification. He’s a member of the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI), American Chemical Society (ACS) and Royal Society (RSC).

Research Area and Expertise His expertise is in the fabrication of electrospun nanofibers and its surface functionalization for various applications. He is also equipped to handle optical and electron microscopes for visualizing materials in the micron and nano regime. He also has experience in using different spectroscopic tools for chemical analysis. Recently he started working with wearable sensors for non-invasive health monitoring. His post-doctoral work is focused on fabricating of optical fibre-based sensors for environmental monitoring.

Priyanka Bhadra, PhD

Dr. Priyanka Bhadra, is currently working as a scientist in the department of Biophysics, Bose Institute Kolkata, Saltlake, Sector v. Her area of work is Nanorobotics device fabrication for Cancer diagnostic and treatment. She got her Doctoral Thesis Award from Jadavpur University, Department of Metallurgical Engineering on Nanomaterial Synthesis and their Bio-application. She had six months Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship experience from the University of Tokyo in Biosensor application. From 2012 to 2016, she engaged as a Post- Doctoral Research Fellow in the department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Madras, Working in NEMS and MEMS devices for Biosensor applications. Since 2017, she has been actively engaged in Scientific Review Article Writing as a freelance writer. She has significantly contributed to writing proposals for DST, SERB and DeiTy. Her notable research includes the development of proper surface engineering for antigen-antibody interaction,for which she got the award of a young scientist in 2015, a woman in science, conducted by CEFIPRA (Indo-French collaboration). She has published in several peer-reviewed international journals in the context of nanomaterials and their applications in the biological field. One paper on biosensors for triglyceride sensing got selected as the best paper of the year 2020 by IEEE sensor. Her sincere contribution toforming an entire book on Covid-19 is under Nova publishing house.

Nanobiotechnological Scientist with extensive Ten years of expertise in Nanomaterial Science and Nanotechnology field especially in differential Nanomaterial Synthesis and Surface Functionalization through proper Surface Chemistry, Nanobiotechnology, Nanorobotics, DNA Nanotechnology, Nanostructures, NEMS, Biosensor, Surface Engineering and Drug Delivery. Currently involved in DNA nanotechnology, Nanobot, Magbot and Sonobot device fabrication, and G-Quadruplex based Nanorobotics engineering in cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Sritama Mukherjee, PhD

Sritama Mukherjee, Ph.D., is currently working as Post-Doctoral Researcher at Aalto University, Finland. Dr. Mukherjee received her Ph.D. degree (Interdisciplinary: Chemistry & Civil Engineering) from IIT Madras in the year of 2021. Her notable research includes development of sustainable materials for water purification technology. She has published several peer reviewed journals in the context of water purification technology. She has contributed several book chapters on water research. Among of them, one is “Sustainable nanomaterials for clean water”(CRC press, to be published)is highly impactful.  She has filed several patents on water purification technology and water sensors. She is the member of American Chemical Society (ACS) and Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI). She has significant contribution in writing proposals for DST, IGSTC and Millennium Alliance Grants, 2018-2020.

Research Area and Expertise
Expertise includes detailed qualitative and quantitative water analyses with sophisticated analytical instrumentation, green synthesis of nanomaterials and piloting for their application in water purification, and smartphone-based optical sensors, whose prototypes are currently at the stage of product development. Environmental impact assessment and application of sustainability for various water-related technologies. Currently, she is working on cellulose-based composites for various applications such as fire-retardant materials, and so on.

Amaresh Kumar Sahoo, PhD

Amaresh Kumar Sahoo, PhD, is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Sciences, Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT Allahabad), India. He received his B. Tech degree in Biotechnology from the West Bengal University of Technology (India) in 2005 and a postgraduate diploma in Bioinformatics from Rajabazar Science College, Calcutta University (India) in 2007. His earned his PhD from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati in 2015. He has also worked as an Associate Project Engineer at Centre for Nanotechnology, IIT Guwahati (India). He was a post-doctoral research fellow during 2015-2016 at Chapman University, USA.

Research Area and Expertise
His research focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and biological applications of different nanoscale materials including noble metal nanoparticles, carbon dots, and polymer nanoparticles. Synthesis of novel nanoscale materials and study its interactions with biomolecules like DNA, protein, and cells by using computational modeling and experimentation. His team also is exploring the theranostic aspects of nanoscale materials particularly useful for antibacterial and anticancer study. Currently, his group is working on the development of a diagnostic kit by using fluorescent metal nanoclusters. His research works have been published in various reputed international journals so far. He is an author of several book chapters. Also, he has filed three Indian and international Patents in his name based on his recent research outcomes.

Sumita Goswami, PhD

Sumita Goswami, PhD, is currently working as a Senior Researcher in the area of Sensor Technology for ALMASCIENCE(CoLAB), Lisbon, Portugal. She did her Ph.D.(2014) from Jadavpur University (India) in the field of Materials Science and Nanotechnology. After that, she started her postdoctoral research in CENIMAT|i3N group (FCT-UNL) of Portugal, and continued there until 2020 she joined to her current position. At present, she is working with the principal responsibility of developing building blocks for cellulose based smart electronics in ALMASCIENCE.

Research Area & Expertise
Her research experience is mainly based on conjugated polymer-based materials and their applications in diverse fields e.g. energy harvesters, sensors, data storage, super capacitor, TFT, electrorheology. Her recent research interests include developing polymeric materials for multifunctional applications, and designing devices/prototypes for Wearables and Paper-based Electronics while projecting Sustainable Green Technology and Zero E-Waste Challenge. During her research career, she has published in several high-impact peer-reviewed journals and proceedings of the ISI and worked for several international and national projects.

Md Palashuddin Sk, PhD

Md Palashuddin Sk, PhD, is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India. He did his PhD in Chemistry (2015) from Department of Chemistry, IIT Guwahati (India). Before joining AMU, he has worked as an Associate Project Scientist in “Centre for Excellence in Research and Development of Nanoelectronics & Theranostics Devices” at Centre for Nanotechnology, IIT Guwahati (India). He obtained University 2nd Rank in B.Sc(Hons) in Chemistry (Aligarh Muslim University, India)and was awarded several awards and scholarships during his career.

Research Area & Expertise
His research focuses on the chemistry of luminescent nanomaterial for versatile applications such as sensing (chemical & biological), catalysis and biological applications. His group is currently focusing on translation research and has developed paper-based sensing devices. He has published several peer-reviewed research articles in various international reputed journals. He has also written a book chapter. His research publications were highlighted by several science magazines, blogs and news agencies.

Debabrata Sarkar, PhD

Debabrata Sarkar, PhD, is currently working as a Research Assistant Professor  in the Department of Physics and Nanotechnology of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tamil Nadu, India. He received his Ph.D. degree (2014) in the area of Materials Science& Nanotechnology, Jadavpur University, India. After that, he started his postdoctoral research in Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel and continued there until in 2016 he joined in his current position.

Research Area & Expertise
His research experience is mainly based on several kinds of chemical and physical deposition techniques for various applications such as, air filter, photo catalysis, photovoltaic are among others. Though his current research interest is to develop different nanomaterials in the field of environment and energy following two directions, one is the development of semiconductor materials for photo catalysis water splitting and the other is fabricate nanofiber membrane filter for capturing air pollutants. During his research career, he has authored and co-authored several peer‐reviewed publications and has earned h-index of 13 and i10-index of 17 to his credit.

Biplab Kumar Maiti, PhD

Biplab Kumar Maiti, PhD, is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, National Institute of Technology Sikkim, India from 2019. He received his doctorate from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), India in 2008 After that he joined  at Friedrich Schiller Universität Jena, Germany as s postdoctoral position. From 2011 he was awarded with Prestigious FCT fellowship from Portugal scientific body and joined in Faculdade de Ciencas e Technologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal in the department of Biotechnology. During his research career he has published several international articles and presented his work in international-national conferences.

Research Area & Expertise The main field of research is Bio-inorganic Chemistry and the role of metals in Biology.

Rajib Sarkar, PhD

Rajib Sarkar, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany. He was awardedPhD in Physics in 2009, from the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata, India. After finishing his Ph.D., he joined as a Max-Planck Fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids, Germany. He worked there from 2009 to 2012. Followed by this he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany from 2012 to 2014. He is also a Visiting scientist at the University of California, Davis, United States. During his research career, he has been a principal co-ordinator of several scientific projects (third party funding) including mentoring several international diploma and PhD students and published his work in many significant archived journals.

Research Area & Expertise
He is an expert in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics with the main focus on strongly correlated electron systems. He mainly uses Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Muon Spin Rotation techniques to understand the fundamental aspects of unconventional magnetism and unconventional superconductivity. Apart from doing active research, he also teaches at the bachelors, masters and PhD level at the University. He is also active in popularising science.
